God's Plan vs. Man's Desire

God's Plan vs. Man's Desire by David Speer

David and Kristen Speer
Assistant Area Directors, Caribbean General

I listened to a great sermon that was preached last week in the NLRC* chapel by Rev. Malcolm P. Burleigh, the Senior Director of Intercultural Ministries.    In the sermon, Malcom brought out a concept I would like for us to think about for a moment.

In Genesis 1:28, God introduces His original plan for man: "Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion..." Then in Genesis 11:4, you see a picture of man's desire; "Come, let us build ourselves a city and a tower with its top in the heavens, and let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be dispersed over the face of the whole earth.

God's destiny for man has always been one of fruitfulness, multiplication, spreading out and taking dominion.   The desire of man continues to be about making a name for himself, building monuments to make his name great, and creating a safe place for himself, living in comfort alongside his peers.    Because you are reading this blog, I know that somewhere in the past you have made a decision to live out God's plan for your life.   So today I want to encourage you to never settle for less than God's destiny for you.   Continue to live out a fruitful life in faith, always pushing the boundaries, actively believing that God's plan for your life is far beyond what you can do by yourself!
